Park Royal Shopping Centre is refers to itself as “The World’s Largest Community Centre”. In metro Vancouver, shoppers visit malls at an average of 1.47 times/month. At Park Royal, it’s an average of 6.7 times/month for a total of about 15 million annual visits.
The expanding and renovating plan will create about 432 new and reconfigured retail space. The project also consists of adding two and a half levels of parkade (approximately 200,000 square feet ), creating 432 new stalls. The north facing parkade elevation will be screened with individual glass panels mounted proud of the structure, allowing for daylight and natural ventilation. Building walls and storefronts will be expressed individually from a palette of metal panel, brick, stucco, stone, tiles and varying styles of glazing, framing and entry doors. Overhead weather protection is provided by steel/glass canopies and fabric awnings.
It is a 45,000 sq.ft four storey mixed-use development features two levels of underground parking, three floors of office space and retail on two floors.
This state-of-the-art office building is constructed to the highest energy efficiency standards. Its energy conservation measures including increased insulation in the building envelope, high performance windows and energy recovery ventilator with exhaust air heat recovery. Fortius Sport & Health (formerly known as MultiSport Center of Excellence) is the first integrated sports medicine, science and training venture in Canada, located near the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex.
The 148,000 square foot facility includes an array of rooms and spaces, clinical offices, rehabilitation areas, gyms, laboratories and three floors of athletes’ village and hotel space. It employs an integrated team of sports medicine, science and training professionals to conduct research that aimed at preventing injuries, enhancing performance, treating injuries and educating athletes. The lower level is open to general public, providing local residents with wellness & recreation programs.
The facility’s exterior is a combination of curtain wall, composite cladding and metal paneling, while its interior lobby features a floating cedar ceiling and utilizes radiant heating within a polished concrete floor.
